The silk piecework covering the face of this antique stool is much worn, but I find it really beautiful, and I love the unusual shape of the stool, evoking hand fans and fire screens, and with the spooled handle, like a fourth leg, completing the reference. Cut of a very thick slab of wood, with three more spooled legs to stand on. C. 1870s-80s New England, I believe.
16” at handle, 11 5/8” x 7 1/2” t. I wouldn't put much weight on it, as the legs are a little wobbly, but fine for resting one's feet!
