Cheiro's Guide to the Hand, 1900 Hardcover

Regular price $48.00

Well, according to Cheiro, there is not much that can't be determined by reading one's hand, and I must say that this book makes for fascinating--if most of the time ridiculous!--reading. Clues to one's fate are extracted here not just from the palm, but also from every aspect of the hand, from shape to fingers to fingernails! A handful of diagrams assist with readings, and then at the back an appendix with Cheiro-praising quotes from various esteemed personalities, from the Duke of Newcastle to Mark Twain, who  notes that Cheiro has "exposed my character to me with humiliating accuracy"!!!

7 3/4" x 5 1/2" x 1 1/16". 176 pages. 1899 copyright, published by Rand McNally. Overall very good condition, with some cover wear, a couple of town corners to inside pages, some age toning/foxing to end papers, and a small ding to spine visible from the back. Binding is in pretty good shape and the book is holding together very well, with many good years of hand reading left in it for sure. Photos give a very good sense of content.
