Beautiful Old Wood and Wire Rack, Presumed Extra Large Farmhouse Egg Carrier

Regular price $75.00

Found in Vermont the other day, this just struck me as a very beautiful thing, with a poetry to the way each arch of wire differs a bit in form from the next, together creating a delicate sort of field that feels like a 3 dimensional line drawing floating like a cloud above the wooden armature. I believe the original function was as a tray for holding and carrying eggs--and a good lot of eggs it would have carried! All sorts of creative ways one might put it to use now (a rack for drying watercolors, say) but also quite a lovely found object hung on the wall.

24 1/2" x 12 1/4" x 3" and in good condition, earlyish 20th c. I presume.
