Beautiful and Rare 1920 "Game of Rainbow" Card Game, Complete Deck of 56 with Key

Regular price $90.00

So graphically striking, and actually quite a sophisticated game. Printed by Goodall & Sons for  Robert Johnson Co, Leicester England (patent 1919, issued 1920), this is a rare (I can find none others available out there and only one mention) complete "Game of Rainbow" card deck, with 56 cards plus instructions and 2 key cards. "Described as an interesting, amusing, and intellectual" game, the objective is to make color sets by mixing two or three component cards with one master (i.e. yellow component card + blue component card + green master = 1 set) or, best of all, a full rainbow of six masters plus rainbow card.  I really love the range of colors represented with light and dark shades that add some complexity to the mixing! Great for teaching kids or grandkids (or anyone!) about color mixing --and to my eye just pure pleasure to look at.

Complete deck of 56 with box. 3 7/8" x 2 5/8" x 1". Center folds to the key cards (which allows them to fit in the box) and one small tear to the the purple master card. Box shows wear and a couple of repairs as documented. There's some glare caught in a few photos--surface of the cards has a little sheen.
