One of three "whimsies" today, making it a happy week, and I found this one close to home. Just my sort, assertive like a piece of architecture and standing tall on its square base. With a large ball on top echoing the one inside, and pairs of small raised ones with around the foot. And with happy surprise of an inlaid star on the underside. Some fine craquelure to the lightly varnished surface, too.
9 1.4" t x 1 7/8" x 1 3/4". One missing inlaid diamond on one side of the base, I don't think at all detractive. Otherwise excellent condition, earlyish 20th century I would guess.
