Antique Tramp Art Box with Decoupaged Ships, Some Loss

Regular price $70.00

This old (late 19th c. I believe) tramp art box shows some damage and losses, but it's an unusual one, with a lot of character, and I really love the ships on the front and back flat panels, so I had to rescue it and hopefully shepherd it forward! There is some damage/loss to the top, where it looks like there once was a handle, and where the stacked, chip-carved layers at the front right corner are gone (I used a Sharpie to darken the the exposed wood to make the losses a little more subtle.) There is also a hairline split in the wood of the lid, a vertical stack missing along the near edge on one short side, and stacked square missing at lower right on the other short side, and a foot on the underside that is a bit loose. Finally, the lid, while opening fine, doesn't stay open on its own! Still, it's quite a beautiful thing, and if set on a shelf rather than a table, so as to be viewed from the front, one might just think it was perfect!

13 3/4" w x 6 1/2" d x 13 3/4" t. See above for condition notes. Stable and not fragile, with a red fabric lining that is pretty clean.
