19th C. Stenciled Extra American Vermillion Pigment Crate

I love an old box/crate with hand-stenciled label, and love this one especially for that label bearing the beautiful word (and color) "Vermillion." I guess it once held paint pigment, and there are traces of the powdered color all over it. And really beautifully jointed corners too. A great once for filling with paint brushes or pencils or whatever and keeping out on the studio table. 

8 3/8x 4 1/4 x 3 5/8 t and in good condition, with just a bit of minor loss to one edge of the bottom, no real matter. Sturdy and soound.
