You know I love antique and unusual playing cards, and this would be a perfect box to store a deck in. I believe it dates to the second half of the 19th century--I have found a c. 1880 British sterling vesta with matching enameled king that feels very akin to it, and indeed that seems right for the (no indice) King card pictured. Blue transfer, with the rest of the color appearing hand-painted, and with gold striping around the sides, corresponding to the form, to mimic a deck. I can't find another of these out there, and quite finely done.
2 7/8 x 3 3/4 x 1 1/4" t and in good condition. Some crazing, more pronounced in photos (shot with magnification) than in hand. No paint loss, chips or cracks or other issues.
