Some losses to the paper decoration on this small mirrored box, but I think it's quite a charmer, regardless--including for the fabulous hand-colored engraving framed at center of the lip, with this butterfly-winged fairly waving her hand (holding magic herbs or mistletoe?) over the canoodling couple below. One might expect this to be a trinket box, but the underside is sandpaper for striking, so I believe it was meant for matches--which defines our butterfly-winged woman as a fire-starter!
3 1/4" x 2 5/8" x 1 1/4" t. Losses to paper trim as evident, some de-silvering to the mirror, and generally somewhat delicate-- I might not put it to heavy use but it is lovely to admire (and one can admire oneself in it too!)
