SOLD Civil War Era Hand-soldered Tin Bakers Cup: Measure, Grater, Cutter, Pie Wheel!

Regular price $100.00

I've found exactly other tin cup like this before, several years ago, but that's the only other I've seen. A pretty ingenious, make-do feeling thing--combining grater on one side, pie wheel out front and biscuit cutter on the bottom, and meant to function as a measuring cup too, I presume. I believe a Civil War era creation, soldered together of tin and certainly a useful thing for an army cook (and any cook!) to have on hand, a sort of one man band for the baker. This one looks to have a stencil painted name along one side--looks like Mongrath or similar to me. To my sensibilities really a wonderful object.

4" t x 6" longest across; 3" diameter at lip. Sound and sturdy, wonderful patina.
