Antique Fraktur Style Floral Watercolor on Watermarked Lined Paper

Regular price $0.00

I purchased this 19th century watercolor from a seller who had purchased a large collection of Early Americana, including many Pennsylvania fraktur watercolors that that had come from the notable collection of fraktur enthusiasts Russ & Corrine Earnest. I am not 100% certain this piece originated in Pennsylvania, but it seems likely, and I think it's just a lovely thing, with very saturated color still. I especially love how the oversizedorange and pink leaves toward the bottom counterbalance the two big blooms at top, and how the dots at the centers of those two flowers almost read as faces.

7 1/2" x 5 15/16" and in very good condition, with a little scattered toning and a few very light creases.
