I can't begin to wrap my head around how this whimsy was conceived of, let alone carved, but I think it is one of the most amazing whimsies I've ever seen! Photos describe it better than I can, but the basic gist is that it opens up to reveal five working pliers of progressively smaller size, and I have to think the whole thing was carved from one piece of wood. Amazing details down to ribbed grips on the interiors of each set. And lots of possibilities for how to display. Plus a fantastic dry wood patina. Really cool, and for sure the only of its kind I've ever seen.
Closed: 7 3/8" long x 1 1/8" wide x 9/16" deep. When fully open, it's about 9" wide. Excellent condition, without a flaw that I can see, and definitely with a lot of age to it.
