Amazing Old Silver Painted Chip Carved Tramp Art Shrine

Regular price $240.00

I seem to having a moment of attraction to shiny things (i.e. the gold painted tramp art frame I just listed), and also to religious iconography, both culminating in this amazing old tramp art shrine! I purchased it from a Boston-based tramp art collector and author in the process of selling off some 50 years accumulation; he believed it dates to the first quarter or so of the 20th century and that the sliver paint is original to it. The legs are original to it also, inset (recessed) into the bottom. Inside the shrine, which has glass on three sides and a domed roof on the interior, is patterned silver wallpaper or wrapping paper on the back wall (the pattern on the paper makes me think more 1940s or so.) Quite a thing for sure, and certainly not for everyone, but it's in such excellent condition that I think even in the most understated environment it would be fantastic.

20 1/2" t x 8 7/8" w x 7 1/8" d. Excellent condition, no missing bits at all, door opens easily and closes well (you just need to be mindful of keeping the dangles free of it when closing!), one leg wobbles just a bit when holding it but once standing it is completely stable and sturdy and does not wobble a bit. I took a few photos with a 10 3/8" tall doll inside for scale; she fit perfectly!
