Another old penmanship notebook, because I can't pass them by, and find them all interesting in different ways. This early one, with thick handmade paper cover, is all about the repetition of single words over and over again--the outcome of which I find quite satisfying, formally and conceptually, especially when the word is, say "runninghand"! (Runninghand is a style of penmanship emerging in the late 1700s.in which letters are slanted and the words formed without lifting the pen from the page--and what a great word!) Plus charming, charming..demonstration (and some extra excellent D's at the end; a field of lamentations, and immensity, and pensmanship, etc. I'll never get over my love for these.
8 3/4" x 7 1/4". 9 pages, filled front and back, with what looks like a couple of pages removed at back. All in good condition, some scattered light foxing and toning, minor.
