1984 Painted Eagle Carving by W. Crossley, Cape Cod

Regular price $50.00

I’ve found a handful of other carvings out there signed W. Crossley and dating from the 1970s-80s—just enough to learn that he lived in Cape Cod and that birds native to the area were his thing. I find this eagle a very good one - not a bit fussy or showy but rather quite elegant and watchful on its perch, as eagles are, and with a head that also reminds me a bit of a seagull, which makes it feel a bit friendly! Very nice.

6" t;  4 3/8" w x 1 7/8" d at base. There’s a split in the wood the eagle stands on to due shrinkage/expansion over time—otherwise excellent condition, stable and sturdy and not fragile. Signed on the underside.
