1910s Pocket Notebook with Portrait and Curious Mix!

Regular price $25.00

A curious little pocket notebook, which I love for its combination of contents--the cutout photo portrait, with fraternity affiliation just below, and then pasted in lists of measures, recipes for making animal feed, fire alarm codes, and then, very carefully written on gridded paper, what I've figured out is a list of winning race horses. Methinks this young man was, most passionately, a betting man, even while studying agriculture at Hamilton College. A fun and also quite visually satisfying one in all of its layering.

5 1/4" x 2 7/8". 6 pages (leafs). Inside front and back covers plus first two pages recto and verso filled plus 3rd front of page partially used. Well worn but holding together.
