I found this small painting at a shop in central MA and just thought it was great, including for how non-plussed this woman looks to be about holding up this bowl of fruit forever! It took me a bit of research to realize that it is after a painting by Mexico born painter and muralist Alfredo Ramos Martínez--who lived and worked in Mexico, Paris, and Los Angeles, is considered by many to be the 'Father of Mexican Modernism,' and painted many portraits of women holding bowls or fruit of flowers. I am glad to know the source but find this very satisfying on its own terms.
Paper 10 x 7 3/4" ; painting area 5 1/2" x 5 1/2". Good condition, with light creases to the margins from where it was once folded around the painted area.
