I found this sweet old whimsy in mid coast Maine--clearly carved as a rattle long ago, but it stands straight and tall with the ball in cage at bottom, turning it in to a sort of architectural tower, and I love the formal progression of shapes that way. Carved of oak, early 20th century or so I believe.
5 5/16" x 3/4" x 3/4". Good condition. A few old knicks to the thin "walls" of the cage, I don't think at all detracting, and no splits/breaks that I can see.
