c. Mid 19th Century Hudson River School Oil on Canvas Landscape Fragment, Framed as Found

Regular price $200.00

Very lovely and very transportive! This is a framed fragment of a Hudson River School painting, oil on canvas, mid 19th century I believe, framed here under glass, as found. I do believe it is the Hudson here, and with a view to what I presume are the Catskill mountains in the distance. And with a bit of architecture tucked in under the soaring trees at near left, as typical: the American landscape as a pastoral setting, where human beings and nature coexist peacefully. I'd like to nestle in there, indeed! I don't know anything more about the larger painting this came from, but this fragment feels quite resolved as a stand alone painting now, I think

Framed, under glass, roughly period frame, as found: 14 3/8" x 12 1/4". Sight 10 1/8" x 8".  Loss to the surface of the frame top left, as evident. Painting itself in very good condition. Wired on the back for hanging.
