19th Century Rewards of Merit - Group One (Paper, c. 1830s-60s)

Regular price $65.00

The existence of rewards of merit makes me glad, giving from teachers to students to affirm their good efforts, as does the fact that people saved them. Last weekend I found a large collection of them in a box in Midcoast Maine--quite a nice variety of them, which I've divided into three groups, all listed today. The ones in this group are all printed on paper (rather than card), are relatively early examples )c. 1830s-60s or so), and many of them are hand-colored. To my mind a wonderful thing to collect, telling stories of history, and culture, and education, and values, and just very lovely things.

Reward with watercolored floral wreath near top center in first photo: 4 1/4" x 3". All pictured included and all in good condition.
