Young Girl in Gold, Hand-tinted 19th C. Sixth Plate Ambrotype with Gilding

Regular price $55.00

A charmer of an ambrotype--and subject!--I think, especially special for being hand-colored, not just the yellow tint of her dress and pink of her cheeks, but also hand-drawn black lines detailing her dress and a gilded flourish at her neck.  I love her face, and her hands, and especially the play between her legs and boot tops and the seat and legs of the chair.

3 5/16" x 2 13/16". Overall good condition, with one black mark coming down from upper left and what feels like a subtle bend to the backing plate that shows through in certain light as a very subtle line/ridge connecting on the diagonal to that black line (as documented, second to last photo.) Image is crisp and clear, as best shown in details.
