Clothes pin dolls would fall in this category, but I find it hard to find really good ones. What I want is a no fuss sort of spareness; elemental, almost existential feeling, a doll alone in the universe. Just like this one. His whole body appears to have been carved from wood, though I have not tried to strip him of his very excellent denim outfit. Graphite features on his face, finely carved little hands that once gripped something, and flat wooden feet. Native American I might guess. His arms lift a bit, and his legs will open slightly, but he does not bend at the waist and his head does not turn. To my eye very beautiful.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e 4 1\/4\" t.
