Just a small drawing, black and blue ink on ruled paper, likely found in school notebook, mid 19th century or so--but for me embodying precisely why I love drawings above all else: a whole world brought to life through a few lines. I might guess that this woman, pointy nose and spectacles (with wires wrapping wonderfully around her ears and down from there), was the teacher, as the drawing gives a sense of her as a sort of architectural presence: mountain and fortress rolled into one, with a bustle that feels both cliff and shelf too! To my eye and sensibilities, better than words can get to. And in a roughly period frame, with chippy old painted surface, looks like a sage green over bittersweet.

5" x 4 1/2" framed, under glass, as found, with original wood back on the antique painted wooden frame: Chipping to the paint as evident, but not actively flaking.

https://www.criticaleyefinds.com/products/woman-in-spectacles-who-is-also-a-slide-and-a-shelf-19th-century-naive-ink-drawing-in-chippy-painted-period-frame
