Quite an unusual one, a late 19th-very early 20th c. cyanotype, which I know came out of a Los Angeles estate. I've recently been looking at old photographs of empty spaces/sets--like a rare photobooth photo absent a person, which I really coveted--and this feels akin to me; a view from the stage of an empty theatre. All about stage setting, and anticipation, and absence, too. With these elaborately draped stars and stripes banners everywhere, and beautiful strings of crisscrossing bulb lights, sure feels like a political rally waiting to happen--and now like a poignant portrait of American democracy having the left the room.
4 7/8" x 3 3/4", very good condition, just a bit lighter blue than photos convey.
