As a dealer of small things, flying to shows out of town, as with the Nashville shows, means packing one suitcase inside another, to fill the larger (and much of the smaller too) with things found. But then there are the things that won't quite fit, usually a good handful of them, so they're shlepped through the airport in very awkwardly shaped carry ons (and this time around I had a newly broken rib while doing it all, so the schlepping hurt!), then run with crossed fingers through security, then awkwardly stuffed under the seat, etc. etc. And then again. Such was the case with this folk art spinning wheel, amazingly arrived home without a (new) scratch. All to say, I really value these things--and of course my efforts to get them home are nothing compared to the efforts that went into making them! Turning the pointed handle at the end of this scratch-made, hand-carved spinning wheel makes the band rotate and both the bobbin and the wheel go round and round, which is really quite a satisfying thing to do, over and over! I'd like to think made as a love token of sorts for someone who took great pride in their spinning but I don't know. A super sweet thing in original light bluish-gray paint.

8 3/4" l x 7 1/2" t x 4 1/8" w. Very good overall condition, sturdy and sound and works just as it should. There is one worn section on the rotating cloth band as documented, which doesn't seem about to separate but could be reinforced. There is a groove in the wheel that helps to guide the band as it rotates, sometimes it veers a bit to the side but is easily adjusted.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0015/5022/1382/files/IMG_5339_42a925e9-f160-4295-81b8-b2bcc585e087.jpg?v=1771349286
https://www.criticaleyefinds.com/products/unusual-old-hand-carved-folk-art-mechanical-spinning-wheel-working-smoothly-1
