Wooden Game Counter with Tin Pointers and Hand-painted Numbers

I was excited to find this--a small, handmade 19th century game counter, quite unusual and I think super beautiful. I believe it was made as a counter/marker for whist (card game), but it is different than any I've seen in that it combines two hands on one dial, looking more like a clock for teaching time! (but only 0-9) One finds 19th century examples of "long whist" markers (0-9, more common earlier 19th c.) and "short whist markers" (0-5, favored after mid 1800s), including whist counters with two dials to mark games on one dial and points on the other. But I've never seen both functions combined on one round dial--and what a pragmatic, and also expedient thing to do so here. Wooden, with hand-painted very rich black inked numbers, hand-cut tin hand, and a fantastic patina to that wood. Earlier 19th century I believe, with the manner of the hand-painted numbers telling us that.

2 1/2" diameter. Good antique condition, gorgeous patina, excellent black painted numbers. A little bending to the end of the long hand as evident, and maybe the tip of the short hand curled under a bit too.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0015/5022/1382/files/IMG_5874_5a368c0f-9314-4f2f-b260-e8ead46759f9.jpg?v=1763210714
https://www.criticaleyefinds.com/products/unusual-early-19th-c-wooden-game-counter-with-tin-pointers-and-hand-painted-numbers
