pennsylvania-quilting-stencil
Group of Three Pennsylvania Cut Cardboard Quilting Stencils

These are three hand-cut cardboard quilting templates, used as patterns primarily for cutting fabric for piecing. (There are some gorgeous early examples of these cut of tin, which I covet but which have become very very precious.) I can't resist them when I come across them, and am inclined just to pin them directly to the wall; joyful things. I'd guess these date to the 1930s-40s or so. Found in Lancaster County PA, of course.

Round: 6 1/2" d; tulips 17 1/4" x 11 1/8"; curved form open: 16 1/2" x 12" measured on the square. All in good condition, with one loss of one petal--far lower right--on the three tulips template.
