And the layers of specific information here make this one all the better--between the post-war \"Enlist U.S. Army\" stamp in red and the typed address of the recipient: Allen B. Dumont, Inc. Allen B. Dumont\u003cspan\u003e began manufacturing televisions at the Passaic, NJ factory in the late 30s, and to promote the sale of TVs launched \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ethe DuMont Television Network in 1942, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eone of the earliest TV networks. And so this all feels very Warhol-esque indeed, signaling toward the post-war culture of mass consumption and celebrity fascination that Warhol would exploit and distill.
