Here a Lemoyne Star, a classic quilt block, very Pennsylvania--and with X's and +'s in the surrounding diamonds and squares as if to indicate alternating colors, but also feeling a bit like spiritual symbols. Crisp and bold, but you can also very much feel the presence of his hand in every line. Lovely.

12 7/8" x 7 3/4". Graphite on laid, good condition, with a little toning around the edges of the paper and a few scattered light smudges. Graphite strong and crisp. Blank reverse.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0015/5022/1382/files/IMG_9306_15bac8e2-49ae-46af-85b4-5ac604ee1f9b.jpg?v=1791985021
https://www.criticaleyefinds.com/products/lemoyne-star-with-crosses-burt-gemberling-age-12-1880-graphite-design-drawing-snyder-county-pa
