The eye hooks on the reverse side orient it with the lens-shape at bottom, but I might be inclined to use it as I've oriented in first photo, such that that shape at center feels rather like an all seeing eye. (And it is just a hair wider at that end, such that it feels even more as if an eye looming over whatever might be placed in the frame.) All original, with great all over craquelure to the stained and varnished surface.
