Like the carved horseshoe plaque I just listed, this moon shaped match holder feels friendly and fortuitous--a force for good watching over one's world day and night. I really like the idea of striking a match to light a candle at the end of the day, illuminating this moon just as the one outside rises. Charming, and lovingly crafted, with a great flip side too, which shows how the match-holder was joined to the hand cut moon by folded tabs. Great old black and gold painted surface, nice patina, early 20th c. I would guess.
6 1/8" t x 3" w x 7/8" d and in very good, presumed antique condition, with a hole at top for hanging.
