The interior (reminding me of the shape of coco de mer)\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eled me in a round about way to discover one similar example out there, that one (priced a bit higher than I am asking) identified as Japanese, carved of Tochi wood (Japanese Horse Chesnut), and purchased in \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eYokohama, Japan c. 1940. And that all seems about right, maybe carved a few decades earlier, I am not entirely certain, but whatever the case quite an excellent thing. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e4 1\/8\" w x 4\" d x 2 3\/4\" t. Good condition, sturdy and sound, nice patina, with general light surface wear as shown.
