All the more--I was delighted to turn it over while photographing it to find a date stamped (impressed) at the center, 186_ (I believe 1864.) And two impressed shields too, which I take for Union shields. Whick make me believe it was likely made for military use during the Civil War, tethering Union army horses, fighting for the good! \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e5\" x 4 5\/16\" x 2\" t.
