I'm not sure from whence it came or how it came to be--someone very carefully cut out and mounted the information about the bookplate on the back of the frame--but it has a bit of the feel of having been hung in an old library or museum or science department. I love the idea of hanging an image of a giant sponge right over one's desk or reading chair, and also love how it looks a bit like a brain, and also a portrait, with these little points at the top of the sponge looking a bit like flames. Altogether just right.
Framed as found: 9 9/16" x 11 9/16". Very good condition, and wired on the back for hanging.
