Hard to beat the drama of SUPPLICATION in large capitals, showing through on both front and back covers, along with lyrics relating to the crucifixion: "Nail'd to the shameful tree...To bleed and die for thee!" Is it a coincidence that the engravings inside all feature trees? I'm not sure! But I have definitely not come across another example of pre-printed paper used for marbled covers, and the hymnal content of that paper here makes this seem all the more interesting to me.

6" x 4", 64 pages, very good antique condition.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0015/5022/1382/files/IMG_8944_e9a0cc34-b03c-4914-b8c5-6583fa5aa936.png?v=1783088059
https://www.criticaleyefinds.com/products/book-as-object-marbled-hymnal-score-covers-1848-copy-of-uncle-william-and-his-nephews
