And the clean lines of the simple, unfussy box deliver the color in the best possible way. I believe a writing box, with a slant to the cut of the hinged lid (visible from the sides) and supports along the edges inside for a tray (no longer present), with plenty of room inside for old papers, or present correspondence, or whatever. Would be equally good amidst other old painted and "primitive" things or in a very minimalist setting, where it would feel very crisp and also very serene.

11 7/8" w x 7 3/4" d x 4 3/4" t. Very good antique condition, with surface/paint wear just where it should be. Hinges in very good condition, lid opens easily and closes square and tight.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0015/5022/1382/files/IMG_8372_5b398319-3360-4541-8682-3c4354c5fb63.jpg?v=1791552938
