I had to look it up, but a group of alligators is called a congregation. And quite a pile up of the congregation here, clustering toward the corners, but one looking us square in the eye. Hard not to think of in terms of timely metaphors, but through no fault of the alligators! Stamped (impressed) March 17, 1939 along to the top edge of front of photo.
