Super Folky Old Hand-carved Nutcracker with Great Face

I have a very strong association of nutcrackers with Christmas, dating back to the year my grandfather gifted us grandkids bags of walnuts, each of which he had painstakingly split apart, stuffed with dollar bills, and glued back together again! This great old super folky hand-carved one with red and green painted hat and great teeth is just my kind of nutcracker, making cracking nuts feel pretty fun and festive whether stuffed with $ or not! 

I would guess German Black Forest but could be an American interpretation of the same(?), earlyish 20th century I believe. Very good condition, works great, and stands up on its own when open. There is also hook on the back for hanging. Measurements when closed: 7 3/4" t x 2 1/4" w x 2 1/2" d.
