Green Standing Bird with Orange Feet by Canadian Folk Artist Yves Robitaille

Regular price $38.00

Without consciously realizing it, I have been gravitating to the work of lots of Canadians of late, and especially folk artists in and and around Quebec. This super charming green bird is the work of Yves Robitaille (b. 1939), a widely collected sculptor and woodcarver from Saint-Francois-de-l’Ile-d’Orleans. Though he has occasionally carved other small animals, Robitaille is first and foremost a bird carver--shorebirds, song birds, hummingbirds, and most every other kind of bird found on at or near l’Ile-d’Orleans, near Quebec City, where he lives and displays his carvings in a gallery at his house.

I just love the graphic qualities of this one, with terrific color combo of green, blue and orange, and great rough surface. It just pops, and is guaranteed to bring cheer to wherever you might perch it.  6 1/8" tall x 7/8" thick. (Two more of Robitailles birds are listed separately.)
