What a character this little boy, looking very much ready to take on the world, like a young David about to face off against Goliath. Though he definitely appears ready to wield it like a sword, i'm really not sure what it is he's got in his hand, maybe some piece of scrap metal? With a polka dotted shirt enhanced by gilded buttons, and hand-painted gold buckles on his shoes, too. Very moody and larger than life!
As mounted: 3 15/16 x 2 7/16; tintype 1 3/4 x 3 1/8. The sleeve appears to be adhered to the tintype and I quite like the effect of it as a frame, but it could surely be extricated.
