I found these together and am pretty much certain it is the same woman captured in the cyanotype real photo postcard as in the charcoal portrait at right. Whether a photo of her brother or young husband pasted opposite her on the postcard I'm not completely sure, but I'd like to think the latter, and that she's been waiting at the gate for him to arrive home! And then the charcoal portrait in combination makes it seem as if she's been eager to share a secret with him, too--perhaps to whisper over the fence! The raised hand gesture and joyfulness of her expression in the charcoal portrait make it impossible (for me at least) not to imagine a narrative, and I find it, and the three portraits together, just wonderfully full of life and (her)story.
Sold as a pair. Cyanotype rppc with pasted portrait: 5 1/2" x 3 3/8". Charcoal portrait: 7" x 5".
