Pair of c. 1890 Grand Jeu de Mlle Le Normand Tarot Cards - Sold Individually

Regular price $24.00

I wish I had a whole deck of these, which seem to sell for $1500 or so, but, alas, just two. The cards were created by renowned fortune teller Marie-Anne Adelaide Lenormand and first published c. 1845, then subsequently published by B-P Grimaud, with these cards (based on their backs) dating to about 1890. The pictures refer to Greek gods, myths, allegories (including alchemy) and legends, with the Trojan horse entering the gates of Troy the subject of the “R” and perhaps some sort of alchemy underway in “V”.  I especially love the constellations against the blue skies.  Below are extensive interpretations of the meaning of each of these two cards, courtesy of lemegeton.wordpress.com--you can choose between material rewards, or reversal of fortune!

These are oversized cards, 5 1/16" x 3 9/16". Both are in very good antique condition, with a bit of pencil writing on the 3 of clubs.  Price is per card. Please indicate in the notes field at checkout which you would like, or add two to your cart for the pair.
