Minny Magdalene Brady Was Born In the Year of Our Lord, 1893

This one makes me happy on a whole bunch of levels, not the least of which is simply the name Minny Magdalene! Very faintly at top center, framed on all sides by these exuberant decorative flourishes, is written the name Wm. Brady followed by the year 1896, telling us that it was her father that drew this (which I've confirmed through research; they lived in Sugarcreek Ohio) and that three years later he was still celebrating her birth--and/or maybe it just took him that long to get around to it! I also love how this relates to the tradition of fraktur style birth announcements from earlier in the century, but is its own special thing. Seems to me hand-drawn documents celebrating the birth of children to be hung on the wall should again be a thing--and even better when hung in frames that complements them perfectly, as is the case with this one.

Framed: 11 3/4" x 9 7/8";  Sight 9 3/4" x 7 5/8." Drawing in very good condition, with a little bleeding to the black ink of the A in August, which I believe is original to it or occurred not long after. The frame I believe is period, and seems to me quite likely original to it. It shows a few areas of loss on the sides (not visible when from front, but is solid and study and I would not change a thing.
