I was thrilled to find a box filled with several old folk art ice fishing decoys yesterday in Maine, all made by the same person I believe. I am not an expert on these (or fish, so I'm no good identifying the type represented), but my eye tells me these are really wonderful examples. The rest were exuberantly, colorfully painted, but on this one the wood of the body is unpainted except for the eyes, a very subtle smattering of red dots around the nose, and a black stripe down the back--perfectly complemented by the silver-gray of the angular tin fins. Very lovely.
