I haven’t found out much about the L.W Stevans who signed this quail, just a couple of other examples of his work—but what a lovely little quail I think this is, so delicately carved and carefully painted and feeling as if just come upon in the woods. Gold/brass wire extending from the legs was pierced through the wooden base to make it stand completely sturdy and stable. Really lovely, and perfect for perching high or low on a shelf (I might give it its own!)
Approx 4 1/4” tall. Base is 5” long measured on the square x 1 1/2” d. Excellent condition, no issues whatsoever.
