A First Book in Algebra, 1924, with Cross Drawing on Cloth Cover

Regular price $20.00

Another example of book as object, this one pretty poignant to me--as I was certainly doing some praying to get through algebra! I really love the crude immediacy of this graphite drawn cross against the brown linen of the cover, with rays of light lines all around it. And found inside, a "Prayer Leaflet" from the Blessed Martin Guild, 141 E. 65th St. NYC.

The 354 pages of the book are in good condition, with some pencil annotation on pages here and there. The spine has come loose from the inside of the cover near the top but it is holding together. On the back cover, in penciled capital letters: Alice Faye.
