This pretty vintage Japanese orange lacquer stacking box could be used for serving snacks, organizing office supplies on a desk, holding jewelry on the dresser or vanity, or really for most anything! I love its rounded form and gold edging at each level of the stack, plus the cool abstract design on the lid (I think it is abstract, though perhaps it is text?).
I'd guess this box dates to the mid 20th century or so, and is in good vintage condition, with a few small scrapes to the orange lacquer on the exterior and one crack to the black lacquer at the edge of one interior tray (see detailed photos). It measures 5" tall x 4 3/4" in diameter.
