Antique Tintype of Handsome Painter (?) in Overalls with Etched Order On Reverse

Regular price $45.00

I've been trying to figure out what the text scratched into the back of this tintype might indicate but don't have an answer. It looks like an occupational photo of sorts to me, with this handsome man in bowler and paint-spattered overalls suggesting perhaps a painter to me--or maybe the "bust" described on the back of the tintype refers to a sculpture, and our man works in plaster. Certainly it seems like a job that is being described "Order #240" involving "Knife 11", and with the names of two different men noted. I like the idea that the back of the tintype was used as a notepad of sorts--or as a businesscard! Whatever the case, a pretty great portrait, with the subject reminding me of a young Robert Redford:)

3 7/16" x 2 3/8" and in overall good antique condition, general wear, clipped corners, light scratches, etc.
