Willis Hutchinson 1883 Double-Sided Drawing: Fox, More Boats and Horses, Flags

Regular price $25.00

I recently listed a bunch of double-sided drawings from a small sketchbook by a Willis Hutchinson, dated 1883-84, and am just now getting to listing the final few. Based on a couple of (super sweet!) hand-drawn maps, I believe our Willis likely lived in Port Jefferson in Suffolk County, NY, on the North Shore of Long Island.  Wilis’ name and the year 1883 appears on one page of the sketchook, which the last photo below details. My favorite thing about this one is the tiny fox amid more boats and a horse on the front side and all of the flags on the reverse with what looks to be an American flag at the helm.

6 7/8” x 4 1/2”, with drawings on both sides. Overall good antique condition with a little toning and smudging to the graphite here and there. Paper is not especially brittle.
