1873 Ink Drawing of Bridge Over River in Tree Dotted Landscape

Regular price $25.00

Quite a charming naive pen and ink drawing I think, with wonderful attention and a certain committed precision given to each tree, and brick on the bridge/viaduct, and to the patterns of grass, etc---what a lot of energetic mark-making! I really love the awkward placement of the one tree just to center left of the bridge, as if just floating, and the silhouette of the hills in the distance dotted with trees here and there. But really, I love everything about this!

7 3/4" x 4 15/16". SIgned (a bit faint now) on reverse and dated what looks to me to be Oct, 1873. Good condition, with some toning around the perimeter and a little foxing along the left edge.
